ESG is an opportunity and a strategy

At Sports Group Denmark, ESG is not just an option but an actual strategy, because it is in our DNA to do things decently. It is also something that is
integrated into all work functions in the company.
Our focus will, among other things, be on resource consumption, innovative recirculation, working conditions even further back in the supply chain, and a
very comprehensive documentation of products and company relations – and this while we continue to manufacture functional and durable products at a
competitive price.

FAQ

What is the difference between Recycled and Recyclable?

Recycled defines materials and products made of pre- or postconsumer recycled materials.
A recycled product is made of materials that have been in use before and have been recycled into new materials and products. The material has already been through a cycle of use and has been broken down and made into a new material.

Recycled materials in the textile industry can derive from two different sources PET or textiles.

Recyclable defines materials and products that are possible to take apart and recycle after end use.
The material or product itself is not necessarily made of already recycled material.

What is ESG?

A set of measurable standards, goals, and actions within:

Environmental – climate and resources.

What resources such as raw materials, chemistry, and energy are used, and how does it leave an impact on the outside world. How does the company affect the community’s biodiversity and ecosystems. Calculations of pollution and energy use in scope 1, 2 and 3.

Social – social conditions and monitoring.

Securing working conditions and employment conditions of own workforce and workers in the value chain. How the company affects communities as well as customers and end-users.

Governance – corporate conduct.

How the company manages the responsibility and ensures growth through choices that take the environment and people into account.

What is Due Diligence?

Due Diligence is the process of investigating and verifying facts and details about the considered matter. In ESG this is often in regards to the companies environmental and social impact and responsibilities throughout the supply chain.

What is the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)?

The EU regulation Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is based on the principle – The Polluter Pays. The producer has the greatest impact on the products lifetime through design, materials, and availability on the market. Through a fee modulated based on e.g. the product type and material the regulation holds the producer responsible for the collection, storing, and recycling of the product after use.

What is the difference between pre- and post-consumer waste?

Pre-consumer waste is generated by the manufacturer e.g. textile production processes like spinning, weaving, and cutting. The fibres/textiles are discarded before being used by a consumer.
These fibres and materials are of a higher quality and easier to sort on material type than post-consumer materials and are therefore easier to recycle.

Post-consumer waste is generated by the consumer. It is waste from products after they have been used e.g. used clothing or packaging.
